LAS CRUCES CENTER LEASE SIGNED - OPENING SET FOR SPRING
by: David Stocum,

On January 30, 2010, New Mexico GLBTQ Centers entered into a lease with Kamy Shaw of Art of Birth and Wellness to share her clinic building at 1210 N. Main St. in Las Cruces for the Southern Regional GLBTQ Center. Plans call for programming to begin on a rolling basis beginning immediately and for a grand opening during Southern New Mexico Pride in June.

Centers President, Richard Scramstad states, "As soon as we have volunteers to lead groups we will begin rolling social/support groups out." Volunteers are needed for the following groups: Seniors, Men, Women, Bi, Transgender, Spanish speaking, Coming Out, Parents/Parenting and Recreation. Volunteers are also needed to coordinate DVD Night, Stonewall Coffeehouse and Open Mic night and Family Fun Night (or day if on a weekend). Volunteer leaders and group participants will create the group in a way that best serves their needs.

Committees for fund raising and planning the grand opening will also be forming soon. If you would like to volunteer contact the Center at 575-635-4902 or mailto:info@newmexicoglbtqcenters.org?subject=Volunteering.
